Cara ~ class of 2014

When Cara contacted me for senior pictures this summer we started talking about locations, clothes, etc. We also talked about hair & make up and she informed me that she will be doing her own. Normally all my seniors also book with my make up artist, but Cara did not. Once we got to the location I noticed Cara's perfect make up right away so I asked her if she did it herself or went to a professional. She replied with, "I am in cosmetology school but I want to focus on make-up". A few of my friends ended up hiring her. I gotta say it was pretty cool to see one of my seniors working. A big thanks to Cara's dad, Rob, for finding a super fun location to shoot in! Eastern Market is always a treat!

anatomy of a senior session | Riverview high school senior, Kendall

Senior pictures are a once in a lifetime thing- I like to pamper my seniors. I work with a wonderfully talented professional make-up artist, you can find her site here --> www.jillsollars.com .

Professional make artists are trained to bring out your natural beauty and highlight your best features. As you can see it really makes a difference.

Hair is also a huge part of it. Having just your make up applied and passing on your hair is like having the perfect outfit with the same old shoes you always wear.

I personally style all of my seniors- its not uncommon for clients to come to the studio with a suitcase full of clothes. Chances are you already have a few amazing outfits just waiting to be put together. I LOVE this part!

aside from make-up, hair & killer outfits the next most important thing is your smile!

there is also posing- I prefer the unposed posed looks. I promise its not that hard. I'm there to help guide you to make sure you look amazing.

I adore portraits/headshots/close-ups whatever you want to call them, I ♥ em'.

location- since you've never had your senior pictures taken before I'm going to guess that you have no idea about locations...that's okay, I do. Whether you prefer a country setting or urban grunge I can help you find the perfect place.

a session with me is never complete without a few black & white images

now make sure to send me an email so we can set up your senior session- It will be fun. I promise!

a little q & a

I posted on my FB page if anyone had questions they would like me to answer and I was very happy with the ones I received. Thank you to those that took them time to ask- I love to share so please keep the questions coming!

Your images have a glamorous feel to them. How do you get that?

Thanks! I guess I never really thought about it like that. I'm a girl’s girl so maybe that's where it comes from. We all just want to look and feel beautiful.

How do you get your clients to look so stylish?

When they contact me I advise them to bring everything with them. It’s not uncommon for them to show up with a suitcase full of clothes. I will assist putting outfits together or just take over and do it for them. I always keep a few pieces at my studio or bring something from home for them to use during our session.

Are they friends or clients?

They start out as clients and end as friends. I LOVE my clients. I take time with all of them. There is a lot of planning and communication that goes on before we even start shooting. Not to mention it's a pretty intimate thing to invite a total stranger into your life (and personal space) to capture it.

All your clients look like models-
That’s because they are beautiful! I work with a seriously talented hair and Makeup Artist- www.jillsollars.com
p.s.- there is no editing on this image at all- in case you were wondering I do have a total girl crush on Jill, she's amazing!
